HyperCLOVA X SEED

HyperCLOVA X SEED is NAVER’s open commercial/model line built to empower developers, businesses, and researchers with flexible-sized LLMs that are efficient, culturally grounded (especially in Korean), and easier to deploy. The smaller SEED models (0.5B, 1.5B, 3B) are versatile for tasks like chat, translation, instruction following, and multimodal understanding (when equipped), with low resource requirements and permissive licensing.

SEED Think 14B takes the same philosophy further. It was trained using pruning and knowledge distillation to compress more capability into a smaller parameter count, alongside multi-stage reinforcement learning (including verifiable rewards), supervised fine-tuning, and methods for controlling reasoning paths (“length controllability”). This yields a model that handles complex reasoning, mathematics, coding, and culturally nuanced tasks with performance competitive to larger models—especially in Korean language and cultural benchmarks—while consuming much lower training compute. The model supports long context (≈ 32K tokens), formatted conversation prompts (ChatML), and multi-turn interaction.

Developers typically use SEED and SEED Think for building chatbots, localized assistants, translation tools, educational services, vision/text multimodal applications, and culturally aware AI products where you want good quality without the overhead of the largest LLMs.
