*A dimly lit laboratory filled with strange equipment. DR. EMMA WALKER, 35, brilliant but disheveled, works frantically at a complex machine.*
EMMA
(muttering)
Just a few more adjustments...
*The machine whirs to life, emitting a pulsing blue light.*
EMMA (CONT'D)
It works! I've done it!
*She steps into the machine. A blinding flash.*
[CUT TO]
EXT. CITY STREET - DAY (1950s)
*Emma stumbles out of an alley, disoriented. She takes in the vintage cars and clothing around her with wide eyes.*
EMMA
(whispers)
It actually worked. I'm in the past.
*She spots a newspaper stand. The date reads: May 15, 1955.*
EMMA (CONT'D)
Perfect. Now to find him...
[MONTAGE]
- Emma searching through records at a library
- Emma staking out a university campus
- Emma following a young man from a distance
[CUT TO]
INT. DINER - DAY
*Emma sits in a booth across from YOUNG JAMES, 20, handsome and earnest.*
JAMES
So you're saying you're from the future? And we're...married?
EMMA
(nods)
In my time, yes. But James, I'm here to warn you. In 10 years, you'll make a discovery that changes everything. It leads to...terrible things.
JAMES
(skeptical)
What kind of things?
EMMA
I can't say too much. But please, you have to trust me. Don't pursue that research.
*James studies her face intently.*
JAMES
I believe you. But if I don't make that discovery, we may never meet. You might cease to exist.
*Emma's eyes widen as the implications hit her.*
[FADE TO BLACK]

INT. HOTEL ROOM - NIGHT
*Emma paces anxiously.*
EMMA (V.O.)
What have I done? If I change the past, I could erase my entire life. But if I don't...millions will suffer.
*A knock at the door. She opens it to find James.*
JAMES
I've been thinking about what you said. I want to help. What can we do?
*Emma smiles, hope in her eyes.*
EMMA
Maybe together we can find a way to use your discovery for good.
[MONTAGE]
- Emma and James working on calculations
- Testing experiments in a makeshift lab
- Growing closer as they work side by side
[CUT TO]
EXT. PARK - DAY
*Emma and James sit on a bench, watching children play.*
JAMES
I think we've done it. Found a way to harness the power safely.
EMMA
(smiling)
We make a good team.
*They share a look full of meaning. Emma's smile fades.*
EMMA (CONT'D)
But I have to go back. To see if we changed things.
JAMES
(taking her hand)
I understand. I'll be waiting for you. In the future.
[CUT TO]
INT. PHYSICS LAB - NIGHT
*A flash of light. Emma stumbles out of the machine, looking around frantically.*
*The lab is brighter, more advanced. Through the window, flying cars zoom by.*
EMMA
(amazed)
It worked. We did it!
*The door opens. An older JAMES, 65, enters.*
JAMES
Welcome back. I've been expecting you.
*Emma runs to embrace him, tears in her eyes.*
EMMA
James! You remember?
JAMES
(smiling)
How could I forget? You changed everything. For the better.
*They kiss as futuristic music swells.*
