# The Big Adventure
Lily was excited. For the first time ever, she was going to be home alone! Her parents had to run a quick errand and would be back in an hour.
"Remember, no answering the door or phone," Mom said.
"And no using the stove," Dad added.
"I know, I know!" Lily replied. She was 10 years old now. Practically grown up!
As soon as her parents left, Lily had big plans:
- Eat ice cream for lunch
- Watch cartoons really loud
- Dance around the living room
But then she heard a *creak* upstairs. And another *creak*.
Lily froze. Was someone in the house? Her heart started racing.
Slowly, she crept up the stairs. The creaking got louder. It was coming from her parents' room!
Lily took a deep breath and flung open the door. There, sitting on the bed, was...her cat, Mr. Whiskers!
"You silly kitty," Lily laughed. "You scared me!"
Mr. Whiskers just meowed and curled up for a nap. Lily smiled, no longer feeling alone. She had her furry friend to keep her company until Mom and Dad got home.
