Heylama
Overview
Heylama is a language learning application, which uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a personal tutor to aid language acquisition. This tool initially focuses on teaching English and German, with plans for Spanish and French languages in future.
A standout attribute of this platform is that it provides unlimited practice, offering flexibility for learners to engage with the app as much as they desire, whether for several minutes or half-hour conversations.
The primary method of learning with Heylama is speaking practice, supplemented by innovative features like human-like AI voices for improved listening comprehension and a spaced repetition system for vocabulary building.
Users can interact with the app's AI tutor, named 'Anka', which has been optimized through continual comparison tests for effectiveness, friendliness, human-ness, and engagement.
Heylama strives not only to facilitate language learning but equally to make the process enjoyable and motivating for users. Although the application offers subscriptions, it also provides free access, allowing users to start learning and engage in conversations with Anka without committing financially.
The platform is available for download on both iOS and Android. Albeit its primary function as a consumer app, Heylama also presents applications for language schools.

g k🙏 23 karmaJun 30, 2025@AvatalksThis is hands-down the most engaging language app I’ve ever used. The AI conversations feel real, and the talking avatar makes it fun to practice speaking without anxiety.

I tried a chat section. It's pretty cool, I used another company that's very similar to yours but it didn't recognize speech nearly as well as yours does. The only negative feedback I have for you is the web app seems a little bit buggy on my phone sometimes when you click to hold down for speech it doesn't work very well you have to try it a couple times. I like it though I'm going to try it again.

The app looks interesting, but it's not free. The free version is very limited, and the premium version seems expensive, although it may be worth it.

I have used Praktika and I have loved this app

Useful tool which I’ve enjoyed but it doesn’t notify you of free trial expiring like it said it would, so it just took my money 😅 but I’ll continue using it and see if my languages improve.
