If you’re self hosting and running locally, a bug was just identified that could cause the extension to crash (specifically in unsecure environments with HTTP instead of HTTPS). Occasionally there would be API errors also This has been fixed and the update submitted to the Chrome store, look for version 0.2.4 to have the fix :) Otherwise if that wasn’t your issue, a common issue being reported turns out to be because people aren’t setting up their billing information with their OpenAI API account (NOT ChatGPT) before using the extension. You must have valid billing info setup with OpenAI before your API key will let you start chatting! Checkout this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6LbUiVMl8g

An excellent Idea, and very much needed. However, I have some concerns about the LLM’s training data. Most LLM’s are familiar with n8n but veer away from the documentaion, which may cause unnecessary complications.

I’ve added the newest OpenAI models to n8nChat! - gpt-4.1-nano - gpt-4.1-mini - o4-mini - gpt-4.1 - o3 This update is currently live in the Firefox version, however the Chrome version is still pending Google approval for the update.
