PROJECT PROPOSAL: BAINES DRIFT PRISON HORTICULTURE AND LIVESTOCK FEED PRODUCTION PROJECT Project Title: Baines Drift Prison Horticulture and Livestock Feed Production Project Background and Justification: The Baines Drift Prison farm has access to 300 hectares of arable land and bulk water supply from the Limpopo River. The project will leverage this land and water access, combined with inmate labour, to establish an irrigated horticulture initiative producing both food crops and livestock feed. This aligns with the Botswana Prisons Service's broader goals of improving food self-sufficiency, reducing dependency on external suppliers, promoting environmental stewardship, and empowering inmates through skills development. 1.
