Teaching today is in the middle of a transitory period b/w 100% analog and the current time period in which the digital immigrant teachers are constantly trying to adapt their instructional practices in order to keep up to date with tech trends and the resources available to us.
Therefore, I would absolutely love, and even pay for(as I'm sure many other teachers would) an AI Teaching Assistant that could do most or all of our menial tasks.
I think one would have to work with a teacher to build a versatile and well-rounded Teaching Assistant; but I feel it could be done.
What would be needed/desired:
-ability to create scripts, automations, workflows, excel functions/formulas, and other similar apps to help teachers easily and quickly perform a variety of very specific and sometimes complicated tasks. ie. copying one's roster in one format to another file type so that it imports the info in a way we could choose.
-Digital File Organization: Most teachers have their own system that they've found to work for them depending on a large degree of factors. However, if one could somehow save their system as a template which could be integrated into finder, google drive, etc. so files can be automatically organized and filed in such a way would be an amazing tool in and of itself.
-Student Content Submission Organization, Feedback, and Grading: I currently use my drive folder in my google classroom as my repository of homework/projects. However, the time it takes simply to file, check off who has/hasn't turned something in as well as potentially grading it and giving feedback using functions/formulas in sheets would be amazing. The only issue is that most school's use more secure software for both attendance and grades ie. Powerschool. The only current file Powerschool will accept is .csv which makes it difficult(for those of us with lesser digital skills).
I could list a lot more helpful features but I honestly think this could be an app in and of itself. If I came across one that was fairly easy to use, allowed me to use it for as little or as much as I'd like(depending on my skill set), and something that worked with the most common Learning Management Systems would be well worth it.
