TalkToType
Overview
TalkToType is a voice dictation tool and meeting recorder for Windows and Mac devices. It allows users to push a key, speak, and release the key to land the spoken text at their cursor point.
Meeting recordings using this tool don't require joining as a bot in the conversation, helping to maintain fluidity. A significant feature of TalkToType is the AI summary, a clean, concise version of the recorded meetings.
Furthermore, TalkToType is useful for professionals who need to document the information from meetings or brainstorming sessions without losing the nuances of their thoughts by resorting to chunky typing.
The tool is compatible with numerous apps and platforms, including Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Skype, Slack, and more. Another feature is the ability to upload audio files, such as interviews or archived material and receive searchable transcripts in return.
This feature can significantly save time for journalists, researchers, and professionals dealing with high volumes of recorded material. Last but not least, TalkToType offers live checklists during meetings.
Users can list questions or points prior to a meeting, then the AI carefully watches the transcript live and marks off these points as they are addressed.
This feature ensures comprehensive coverage of meeting discussions.

Seamless speech-to-text in every app.Spokenly feels genuinely practical for people who prefer talking through ideas instead of typing everything manually. I also like that offline/local support is included since a lot of dictation tools still depend completely on the cloud.

Don't type text anymore, just speakReally solid on Windows. I’ve tried several similar transcription tools before, but this one feels much better integrated into the system. The customizable global shortcuts are a game changer, you can either just do plain transcription or trigger your own custom prompts/actions with Adifferent hotkeys. A lot of competitors do Aroughly the same thing, but EchoWrite stands out because the basic transcription is essentially free (you just need your own OpenAI API key, which costs next to nothing). If you want the custom prompts and translations, it’s a one-time payment instead of yet another subscription. In 2026 that’s actually pretty fair compared to everything else out there. Big thumbs up.
