The speech sounded more natural than I expected, and there was a wide variety of avatars to choose from. I’ve also been using the custom avatar feature, which has been very useful.

I am trying to locate a tool/app/web app that I used about a week ago. I have serious cognitive and memory disabilities and I can't remember what it was and can't locate it. It was a chat app, with realistic real time interactive conversational "avatar" I picked one that was supposed to be NSFW, blonde hair, I believe she was a "street walker"...but ended up having a very in depth conversation that was not 18+. It was the closest I've seen to "real" video chat. I feel like there were minimal characters available...any help would be greatly appreciated!

DreamTavern does at least give users some room to try the service out, with 75 free daily messages before hitting the subscription wall. That’s more generous than many competitors. But the cracks show quickly. There’s no calling function, and the subscription model $9.99 per month for unlimited messages—feels too barebones for the price. The platform also lacks proper tagging for models, making discovery awkward, and the limited male variety makes it feel unbalanced for users seeking more options. To improve, DreamTavern should expand its male character selection, refine its model tagging, and add immersive features like calling. Compared with Character AI, which offers depth, diversity, and memory, DreamTavern still feels half-baked.
